In Season 14, production switched from traditional cel animation to digital ink and paint. :)
what is cel animation?
what is digital ink and paint?
How was it used?
why change?
When someone says the word "cartoon," what we see in our head is usually cel animation. Cartoons today rarely use the pure cel animation of the past, instead employing computers and digital technology to help streamline the process.
A cel, short for celluloid, is a transparent sheet on which objects are drawn or painted
for traditional, hand-drawn animation. Celluloid was used for animation and film production up until the
late 20th century, however, it burned easily and suffered from spontaneous decomposition,
and was largely replaced by cellulose acetate plastics.
